New 'Ice Haus' attraction debuts at Bavarian Inn Lodge

FRANKENMUTH, Mich. - Feb. 4, 2019 - PRLog -- A new feature being offered this year by the Bavarian Inn Lodge is expected to stand out, even among regular visitors to the Frankenmuth area: outdoor "igloos" that guests can enjoy food or drink in during winter months.

The "Ice Haus" experience includes a visit to one of three transparent domed structures where food and drink will be served as part of what has become a legendary level of Bavarian Inn Lodge hospitality. The igloos are located in Schnitzelbank Biergarten, in front of the Bavarian Inn Lodge.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, the Ice Haus experience is a "reservations only" opportunity. Reservations can be made starting at 4:30 p.m., and are available through April 30, weather permitting.

Drop-in guests are welcome at all other times, although there is no service available during drop in. Guests are, however, welcome to visit the Lorelei Lounge, Oma's Restaurant, or Martha's Gift Shop to purchase food, beverages and snacks to take and enjoy in the Ice Haus.

"Igloos" are popping up all over Michigan this year. When Lodge President Judy Zehnder Keller did research on these igloos with her 7-year-old grandson Jacob, they knew that they'd be perfect to bring to Frankenmuth — with typical Bavarian flair. The two of them, along with three members of management, visited one to "test out" the igloo environment.

The three igloos are named after the colored lights that they're decorated with: The Weiss Ice Haus (white), the Blau Ice Haus (Blue), and the Gruen Ice Haus (Green). Each structure is decorated with a different furniture floorplan.

The unique experience does come with a few "standard" rules, including that the Ice Haus be a smoke-free environment.

No outside food or beverages may be brought into the igloos, in accordance with Michigan Liquor Control Commission regulations.
