Scavona is a seasoned nurse with over 24 years of experience. When asked about the difference between Heart of Hospice and other hospice providers, Brandon Melancon, Regional Vice President of Operations for Louisiana, shared "Unlike other hospice providers, we serve all eligible patients in our service area regardless of where they live, whether they sign a Do Not Resuscitate order (DNR) or give up palliative treatments that give them comfort such as radiation, IV therapies, and physical therapies. At Heart of Hospice, we are here to meet patients and their loved ones where they are spiritually, mentally and physically. We encourage patients to retain their personal physicians after being admitted to hospice services, as our medical director and interdisciplinary team will work alongside patients' doctors to ensure they get the care they desire." Carla Davis, Chief Executive Officer of Heart of Hospice, shared, "We have passionately served the communities and families of Louisiana for twelve years. During this time, we have prided ourselves on breaking barriers to access to care by serving all eligible patients, even those who are not traditionally served by other hospices. I am excited to have the opportunity to transform end-of-life care in the Baton Rouge area by serving patients and their families the way they desire to be served." Heart of Hospice currently serves approximately 1150 patients across 15 agencies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma; approximately 800 of those patients are served by eight Louisiana agencies.
