Dr Imafidon echoes her family's formula for success and her work in STEM.
Dr Imafidon, daughter of the world renowned adviser to monarchs, presidents and corporate leaders, Professor Chris Imafidon, echoes her family's formula for success -that every child, and indeed, everyone is a genius if given the appropriate tools, techniques and technology under the right tutelage. She disclosed this at the University of Bristol while accepting her 4th doctorate degree for her contribution to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Thus becoming one of the world's most decorated scientists and the first person of Africa extraction to achieve this feat. Responding Professor Chris Imafidon, who led an advance party to Bristol university said "It is now self-evident that the world need to redefine the traditional boundaries of achievement of education and focus on human capital development with the clear goal to realize the genius in every learner, or professional or individual without reference to class, gender, race or background" In her speech, Dr Imafidon said "It is with enormous pleasure that I receive this huge honour from the University of Bristol today. I also want to profoundly thank the orator for the kind and generous introduction, and above all I want to thank God almighty for giving me life, opportunities and the best nurture anyone will envy. To fellow graduands, I want to share a thing or two about the future of a changing world. It is 100% certain that the world we live in will change, therefore, you must be prepared to dictate or at least influence the direction of change. I know that President Nelson Mandela once said "Education is the most powerful tool that can change the world", but I came to realise this after I saw inner-city children being radically transformed by my family's demonstrable commitment via the Excellence in Education programme. This has guided a record number of pupils to equal or exceed my achievement of passing GCSEs or A-level at primary school age. The mantra of my family that "Every child is a genius, irrespective of gender, social background, race or religion" gave birth to my strong personal belief which led to the creation of Stemette, my social enterprise that inspires girls to pursue careers in STEM related professions.
