CLEARWATER, Fla. - March 7, 2019 - PRLog -- The New York Yankees combined 5 pitchers to shutout the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 6 to 0. New York Yankees James Paxton started the game for the Yankees and got credit for the win. Paxton went 3.1 innings giving up 3 hits no runs, no BB and recorded 5 strikeouts to lead the Yankees to their 6th Grapefruit league vs 5 losses. The Phillies loss was their 4th vs 8 wins.

The Yankees offense was sparked by the Yankees top rookie Estevan Florial who blasted a three-run home run in the top half of the Yankees 6th inning. The Yankees were clinging to a 1-0 lead thanks to a run scored by Yankees 2018 ROY runner up, Miguel Andujar who recorded 2 hits in 3 AB with two runs recorded the games first run by Clint Frazier's sacrifice fly in the 4th inning,

Estevan Florial had 2 hits in 3 AB's 1 run and drove in 3 runs he is hitting a .368 batting average this spring.  Miguel Andujar raised his batting average to a robust.388 so far this spring. Another Yankees rookie Mike Ford recorded his first home run of the spring with a solo blast in the top half of the 8th capping the Yankees offensive attack scoring their 6th run.

The Phillies SS was limited to just 4 hits while Yankee 5 pitchers combined struck out 12 Phillies on the day while the Phillies 8 total pitchers struck out 13 Yankee batters.
