Awardees receive $1,000 in cash, $3,000 in Vernier technology, and $1,500 toward attendance at upcoming STEM conferences. At Bosco Tech, Mr. Tom teaches a course that investigates green and sustainable technologies utilizing the company's products. The course, which is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), has students designing, building, and testing wind turbines, simple off-grid solar power systems, and energy-efficient lighting systems.
