Follow on Google News | {9} The Gallery Presents Henry Bosak: "Beat Up"Photo-realist painter contemplates the beauty of industrial decay for his debut show
By: {9} The Gallery With this series, Bosak poses the question "Can an everyday, used and beaten up item be worthy of a painting?" Henry Bosak's meticulous composition and exquisite technique enables him to paint industrial tools and machinery with the elegance of a Caravaggio still life. Growing up in Nebraska, Bosak's father was a "junk man" and he grew up surrounded by rusty cars, tools, iron and steel. While it was once an after-school chore to tear apart these items, Bosak has begun to see them in a new light…as subjects for his paintings. Art has always been a big part of Bosak's life. A trained and skilled illustrator and graphic designer, he always wanted to paint. His unwavering dedication to capturing imagery in its most recognizable form has led him to strengthen his skills as a self-taught artist. "Why do I paint? A valid question I suppose. The best reason I have been able to come up with is that I love to create, always have. There is just something about getting lost in the process…time stands still. The satisfaction I get from being able to look at an image, object or scene and recreate it on canvas in the most realistic way that I can. I paint what I paint because the subject speaks to me in some way, but I leave it up to the viewer to find their own story when they look at my work." – Henry Bosak Henry Bosak: Beat Up runs through the month of April at {9} The Gallery. {9} The Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in Phoenix's Historic Grand Avenue District.
