Follow on Google News | Maintenance Dredging Benefits Southport Marina CustomersBy: Southport Marina Dredging of Southport Marina began on January 9th of this year and was complete on March 22nd. The project was significantly more challenging this time compared to the previous projects due to new regulatory requirements, as well as the high occupancy of in-water slips at the marina. Southport Marina staff worked conscientiously with the dredging contractor, Marcol Dredging, and boat owners to accomplish the project as efficiently as possible. "The dredging project could not have happened without the understanding and assistance of each and every one of our wonderful customers who dock their boats with us at Southport Marina," said Whitley. "In the end, we are all benefitting from the hard work and diligent effort to allow deep water in our basin. As a family and recreational marina, we will continue to focus our efforts on accommodating boating customers with true southern hospitality for many years to come." Southport Marina features floating docks made of Brazilian hardwood, 225 wet slips, a Dry Storage Boat Facility, a floating Dockhouse for light provisions, a Transient/Fuel Dock, and a Recreational Dock. The marina also includes a waterfront boardwalk, Waterfront Office Suites, Southport Marina Live Oak Park with a deck that serves as an outdoor event venue, a Tiki Bar, boat sales and leasing, accredited boat operator training, boat charters, a full-service boat yard, and a host of recreational activities. Southport Marina is located at 606 W. West Street, near the entrance of the Cape Fear River on the Intracoastal Waterway at Mile 309, approximately halfway between Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
