Follow on Google News | ![]() Dr. George J. Kahaly to Receive ACE International Endocrinology AwardJohannes Gutenberg University Medical Center Professor Will Accept the Award at AACE 2019
Dr. Kahaly will receive his award during AACE 2019, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist's (AACE) 28th Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress in Los Angeles. In addition, he will be a conference plenary speaker and give presentations on three different topics: "Autoimmune Thyroid Disease," "Graves Eye Disease" and "Thyrotropin Receptor Antibodies in Autoimmune Thyroid Disease." The ACE International Endocrinology Award is presented to an endocrinologist living outside of the U.S. in recognition of delivering outstanding care to endocrine patients; delivering care to a population of patients with endocrine problems; developing a system of care for an endocrine problem; organizing clinical endocrinologists; Dr. Kahaly is chief physician of the endocrine outpatient clinic at the Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Medical Center in Mainz, Germany. He chairs the ORPHAN referral expert center for Graves' orbitopathy and autoimmune polyendocrinopathy and directs the Molecular Thyroid Research Laboratory. Dr. Kahaly has authored 256 original papers and reviews, focusing on topics such as clinical and experimental aspects of endocrine autoimmunity, immunogenetics of thyroid and polyglandular autoimmunity and cardiovascular involvement of metabolic disorders. He is the editor of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (JCEM) and served as associate editor of the journal THYROID from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Kahaly's awards include: Investigator Award of the German Ophthalmic Society (2011), Best Reviewer Award, European Thyroid Journal (2018) and British Medical Association Medical Book Award (2018).
