Dr. Felicia Cosman to Receive ACE Distinction in Endocrinology Award

Columbia University Professor Will Accept the Award at the AACE 2019 Conference
 
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - April 24, 2019 - PRLog -- Felicia Cosman, MD, Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, is the 2019 recipient of the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) Distinction in Endocrinology Award.

Dr. Cosman will receive her award during AACE 2019, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist's (AACE) 28th Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress in Los Angeles. In addition, she will give a plenary presentation at the conference on the topic, "Anabolic Therapy in 2019: An Evolving Role in Osteoporosis Treatment."

The ACE Distinction in Endocrinology Award is presented in recognition of advancing the understanding of endocrinology through research and education.

Dr. Cosman's recent research has focused on the use of anabolic medications, investigating teriparatide's mechanism of action and its use in cyclic regimens and in combination and sequence with multiple antiresorptive medications. Her past research has covered topics including racial differences in skeletal metabolism, vertebral fracture prevalence in the U.S. and interrelationships among MS, vitamin D deficiency and glucocorticoids. She has published 155 peer-reviewed papers and 50 book chapters, and served as an NIH grant reviewer and the co-editor-in-chief of Osteoporosis International.

Dr. Cosman has received long-term funding from the National Institutes of Health, as well as grants from the DOD and the National MS Society. She earned her medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine.

Taking place April 24-28, 2019, AACE 2019 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center & JW Marriott and will feature expert speakers, networking events, and trade show exhibitions.
