74% of Women in the Tech Industry Feel Their Employer Isn't Doing Enough to Help Women Succeed

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - April 29, 2019 - PRLog -- Nearly three-fourths of the women who took part in the survey believe their current employer should be doing more to help them succeed in the tech industry. 71 percent also believe that IT companies should invest in recruiting women to the field.

The global provider of business and IT support services Tek Experts releases a whitepaper, "Achieving Gender Balance: Views from Across the IT Industry," based on research from their international survey of women working in the technology sector.

To raise awareness and initiate a public discussion surrounding diversity and equal opportunity in the tech industry, Tek Experts polled 2000 women throughout their countries of operation including the U.S., Costa Rica, Bulgaria, Nigeria, and Vietnam. The report indicates that over a third of women feel that there aren't enough women at the executive level in the tech industry and 91 percent recognize the importance of having visible female leaders. Two-thirds of Tek Experts' global leadership team are women. "From the early days of Tek Experts, we took it as our mission to be a diverse company and that we would specifically give women fair opportunities," said Naama Saar, chief executive officer of the company.

Tek Experts believes in equal opportunities and empowers women in the workplace by providing ongoing learning and development for employees including a Women in Leadership training course. "If you have just one woman succeeding from a program like that, that's a success in my eyes," said Zhenya Fileva-Dobriyanova, chief operations officer at Tek Experts.

Tek Experts found that an overwhelming majority of 90 percent of women surveyed in the U.S. think schools should proactively encourage young women to pursue IT courses to prepare them for a career in technology. This indicates that schools in the U.S. still have a long way to go to create an environment that promotes inclusion for future generations.
