Radio JIMS Vasant Kunj 90.4 MHz: Commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

VASANT KUNJ, India - April 29, 2019 - PRLog -- Radio JIMS Vasant Kunj produced special episodes to be broadcasted on October 2, 2018, January 30, 2019 and March 8, 2019. These were half an hour programmes developed with help of community participation. The programs were based on the Gandhian values and the importance of sanitation and clean energy in our daily life. In this regard, the anecdotes from Mahatma Gandhi's life dealing with the issues of sanitation and cleanliness, women empowerment, un-touchability, clean energy were included in the program format. The radio programstalked about the life of Gandhi and his idea of cleanliness untouchability, gender equality and Importance of clean energy for the environment. The programs engaged students of JIMS Vasant Kunj in producing and researching about these special episodes. They recorded Gandhi's favourite Bhajans, Vaishnav Jan to Tene Kahiye and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram which were used in the programs. In this program, while talking about the idea of cleanliness and sanitation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's noble project 'Swach Bharat Abhiyaan' was also discussed. It also included the excerpts from his inaugural speech of 'Swach Bharat Abhiyaan' project. Outreach activities were also organized.

Poster Making Competition

Poster making competition on Gandhi Ji's vision and ideals was organized. (Pictures of the selected poster attached). Poster making competition was also organized on save water and gender equality.

A Talk on Mahatma Gandhi's Values

Special talks were also organized on Gandhian model of development and his contribution on Indian Freedom Struggle.

Seminar

A seminar was also organized on Gandhi's vision which included themes of Health, Hygiene and Sanitation, Gender equality, Marginalization with first year students of Department of Media and Communication Studies.

Swachta Drive in and around the Campus

A Swachta drive was also organized by JIMS Vasant Kunj and titled appropriately "Swachta hi Sewa" in which students enthusiastically participated in the cleanliness drive in and around the campus.
