Follow on Google News | JIMS VK organized Media Seminar on Convergence, Internet Governance and Cultural DiversityBy: JIMS VK The webinar started with the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Ravi K Dhar, Director, JIMS, Vasant Kunj. Prof. (Dr.) QueenyPradhan, Dean, USMC, GGSIPU, New Delhi was the chief guest for the day. She comprehensively discussed the nuances of National Education Policy and how it revolves around convergence, innovation and inclusiveness. She also drew a comparison between traditional and modern approach towards teaching and learning process. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Rahul Mahajan, Head, Content Operations, PrasarBharati discussed about Political Communication and Freedom of Speech. The first two technical sessions comprised of speakers from both the academics and the media industry. Dr. KulveenTrehan, Sr. Assistant Professor, USMC, GGSIPU, New Delhi talked about 'Community Outreach by Indian Organizations in the Digital Age'. It was followed by a thoughtful session by Mr. Soumitra Bose, Senior Editorial Consultant, Outlook Publishing Group, Delhi, who shared his thoughts on 'Convergence of Media Ethics and Politics in the New Media Era'. He mentioned the way media ethics are being compromised in the world of journalism and advertising today.Mr. B.V. Rao, Group Editor, TV9 Network, Noida graced the occasion with his understanding on 'Convergence, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and Metaverse. Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Thussu, Professor, International Communication School of Communication and Film, Hong Kong Baptist University shared his words of wisdom on 'Digital India: Divide and Dividend' He talked about issues revolving around growing digitalization such as Data localization, Cyber Sovereignty, Cyber war and Hacktivism. He took great pride in saying that BRICS nation has De-Americanised the internet and India has a pioneering role to play in it. "Public discourse has to come through academia and intellectuals" The second session concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Dr. Ravi K Dhar, Director, JIMS, Vasant Kunj. 20 participants from the world of academia presented their research papers on different aspects of the theme of the seminar. Dr. Neeru Johri, Head, Department of Media and Communication Studies offered a vote of thanks to all the guest speakers, participants, faculty and students with her kind words of gratitude and wisdom.
