The Global GRC User Survey 2018

LINCOLN, R.I. - June 2, 2019 - PRLog -- According to James Bone, executive director of TheGRCBlueBook, "The global market for risk technology has rapidly evolved over the last 20 years from single solution providers into platforms with cloud features and advanced analytics."

The term "GRC" (governance, risk & compliance) has also undergone a metamorphosis in attempts to describe aspirational solutions that have yet to fully live up to the goals of GRC users. Terms such as; enterprise risk management, integrated risk management, RegTech, InsureTech, and even FinTech are interchangeably used in a confusing alphabet soup of marketing jargon that fails at providing information about the tools themselves.

These marketing terms, used to define functional capability, have created more confusion than clarity and offer little guidance for how and why to use one solution provider over another.

Yet, the market for GRC solutions continues to grow through a combination of private funding, mergers & acquisitions and selective client/partnership arrangements for technical expertise. Regulatory complexity is another major driver of growth in GRC as firms seek to manage conflicting mandates across business silos.

Some developers of risk technology have begun to askew generic terms when their platforms don't fit marketing definitions. Terms like Environmental, Social & Governance, Business Continuity, Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Bribery & Corruption among other nomenclatures stick out as odd descriptors. GRC is such a broad term few agree on who or what should be included in the category making market projections arbitrary.

It is with this backdrop of change that TheGRCBlueBook sponsored a GRC User Sentiment survey.

The Global GRC User Survey is intended to gauge how risk professionals feel about these solutions. The survey was limited in size and scope and is not intended to imply accuracy or direction in the GRC marketplace.  A more robust study of advances in risk technology and risk practice will be conducted over the next 12 months.  This report is a snapshot of User Sentiment over the last 5 years.
