Karate Champion Cynthia Rothrock to Keynote Masters Hall of Fame Awards Banquet

COSTA MESA, Calif. - July 7, 2019 - PRLog -- Martial arts Master and actress Cynthia Rothrock, star of such films as Undefeatable; Yes, Madam; Rage and Honor; and The Martial Arts Kid will be the Keynote Speaker for the 2019 Masters Hall of Fame 20th Anniversary Awards Banquet. The event, which honors martial artists from around the world for excellence in their fields, will take place on Saturday, July 27, at the Hilton Costa Mesa Hotel. The event will feature Dr. Robert Goldman as Grand Master of Ceremonies.

With her record of success both in competition and on the screen, Cynthia Rothrock has earned the title of "Queen of the Martial Arts Films"

A devotee of Far Eastern martial arts, Rothrock holds black belts in Korean Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do, Chinese Wushu, Eagle Claw Kung Fu, and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. A master of both Kata (style) and weapons, she was the undefeated World Karate Champion in both areas of competition from 1981-1985. Rothrock has traveled around the world to demonstrate her skills with such weapons as the Chinese Double Broad Swords, Staff and Chinese Nine-section Steel Whip Chain.

Rothrock began her film career in 1985 in the Chinese film Huang jia shi jie (Yes, Madam), playing opposite Michelle Yeoh. Since then she has appeared in more than 50 films and series, as well as producing or co-producing seven titles. Most recently Rothrock co-starred and co-produced The Martial Arts Kid.

"The Masters Hall of Fame is honored to have Sifu Cynthia Rothrock as our keynote speaker for our 20th Anniversary Award Banquet," says Chairman Daniel Hect. "Cynthia is not only an amazing martial artist, but she is also an inspiration to all who have met her."

The Masters Hall of Fame was founded in 1999 and is recognized as one of the premier Martial Arts events on the West Coast. The association recognizes exceptional Martial Arts Leaders and Legends through induction into the Masters Hall of Fame. Honorees are chosen for their dedication to the martial arts and work in the community, as well as their individual successes.

The Masters Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for 2019. Nominations are open to the public and will be reviewed, validated and vetted by MHOF ambassadors.
