Mississippi Valley State University National Alumni Association Kicks off 30 Day of Giving

GREENWOOD, Miss. - Sept. 4, 2019 - PRLog -- In an effort to assist their university with restoration needs and a scholarship fund, the Mississippi Valley State University National Alumni Association (MVSUNAA) held a news conference at 2:00 p.m. today at its alumni house to announce its new 30 Days of Giving Campaign, where the organization's leadership vowed to try to raise $100,000 over the course of the next 30 days through its website, social media, newsletters and traditional giving platforms and discussed it larger objective of raising more funds over next few years.

"This first leg is an initiative to raise $100,000.00 for the MVSU General Scholarship Fund," said Charlie Tolliver, National President of MVSUNAA. "The 30-Day giving challenge will start on Wednesday, September 4th, 2019 and run through Saturday, October 5, 2019. The total raised will be announced during halftime of Mississippi Valley State University's homecoming this year, and all individuals who donated with be asked to stand as we announce the final total."

The larger goal of MVSUNAA, however, is to raise $2.1 million by 2021 with a focus on restoring the university's athletic scoreboards, the Lois Aron Meditation Chapel and the Devera D. Ball National Alumni House along with providing a robust scholarship fund for current and future students.

"We are very grateful to have a very strong alumni association with ties both nationally and internationally," said Dr. Jerryl Briggs, President of MVSU.  "As the alumni association kicks off this generous two-year time of giving, we hope everyone, who had experienced the wealth of culture, education and empowerment that MVSU has to give, will reach into their hearts and their pockets to give to our beloved institution."
