Follow on Google News | Musica Chorale presents Dido and AeneasHenry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (1689), one of the first operas in English, recounts the famous tale of Dido, the Queen of Carthage falling for the Trojan hero, Aeneas. It will be paired with Let thy hand be strengthened, one of George Frideric Handel's Coronation Anthems (1727), and accompanied by a Baroque instrumental ensemble using historical instruments that Purcell and Handel would have recognized. Encore Young Artists Heather Jones and Chad Kranak will perform the roles of Dido and Aeneas, and Laura Kosar will perform the roles of Belinda and the Sorceress. Other featured performers will include chorus members Allison Wamser, Daniella Ashbahian and Jason Weisinger.
