Follow on Google News | UOE goes naked in North London and Hertfordshire!Just to flesh out that thought, what is actually going naked is a range of stationery! Award-winning stationery and gift retailer, UOE, has just announced that when it comes to greetings cards, zero packaging is the way forward.
David Attenborough's message is working MD Elliot Jacobs said: "The so-called 'Blue Planet Effect' has really made us think. And I've been introducing greener initiatives into the business ever since the programme was broadcast. It has become very obvious that single use plastics are having a massive effect on the environment and wildlife around the world. With estimates that only 9% of plastic is currently being recycled, companies need to do what they can to reduce their impact. By selling greetings cards without plastic wrappers, UOE will be helping to save the earth from a lot of plastic - around 100,000 wrappers from UOE Stores in 2020. It may be just a small step on the journey, but it's the right thing to do." In the future the company plans to introduce more 'naked' product ranges, with the introduction of its in-store 'Eco Corners' which are due to be rolled out across all branches in 2020. The company has also begun trialling cellulose recyclable packaging with some of its suppliers. For more information about UOE Stores & Post Offices, visit https://www.uoe.co.uk/ End
