Appointment of new Managing Director for Skillnet Limited

Skillnet Limited, the UK's largest specialist Apprenticeship Training Provider for the automotive sector today announced the appointment of Eugene Lowry as their new Managing Director.

WATFORD, U.K. - June 2, 2020 - PRLog -- He succeeds Lee Acton who has been the Chief Executive of Skillnet since he acquired the business in 2006, and who now takes up the post of Chairman and retains his shareholding. He says "It's my real pleasure to be able to announce this appointment today. After an exhaustive search and selection process, it's great to be able to appoint from within knowing that you are appointing the best person for the job. Eugene has been a dynamic leader in the business for 12 years and his judgement and ability to lead the team have been proven again and again. Skillnet will be in safe hands under Eugene's direction and I am sure that the rest of the senior team will continue to offer him their full support."

Eugene, 54, has been the Operations Director of Skillnet since 2011 during which time he led the team through three Ofsted inspections, including one graded "good" and one graded "outstanding." He describes himself as a collaborative and focused leader with a drive to delivering an outstanding service.

He says of his plans for the business "As the UK comes out of lockdown it will return to a "new normal." Our job is to ensure that the Apprentices we work with, and the employers they work for, are given every support they need to ensure that this fascinating and exciting industry continues to develop the technical and business skills in its workforce that it needs now and for the future. The challenges of creating a greener economy and a workforce to deliver that, are really exciting and at Skillnet, we will move forward with a new energy and sense of purpose."

Skillnet manages National Apprenticeship Programmes for Ford Motor Company and DAF Trucks in addition to hundreds of smaller businesses. The business delivers training in over 30 different technical and business disciplines and looks after over 2000 Apprentices annually.
