9th Annual Don't Even Trip Dream Foundation Turkey giveaway set for November 27th

NEW ORLEANS - Nov. 26, 2019 - PRLog -- Founded by Ro "DJ Ro" Watts and Lajoan Williams, the non-profit has expended countless hours assisting members of the community, particularly the Lower Ninth Ward, as well as mentoring youth through volunteerism and the Arts. This year they are joined by Cajun Seafood, Xpress Vinyl, AETNA, The New Nena, Free World ENT, and BAR NONE By Design, along with other community based businesses and sponsors. Their goal is to ensure the less fortunate are able to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with as little financial stress as possible. Mr. Watts and Ms. Williams are well-known for freely giving to others in the most impactful of ways. This year's event will be held at 1123 Lamanche Street (corner of Lamanche and St. Claude) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Recipients must have a valid Louisiana I.D.

DJ Ro began his entertainment career in his home base of the Lower Ninth Ward as a youth. On Mother's Day and Father's Day, as well as random weekends, his colleagues and he would throw block parties by providing the soundtrack to barbeques in the area. After realizing the impact he made on hundreds of people at each event, he decided to pursue a career as a DJ. He not only helped to put New Orleans on the map in terms of his career, he influenced the musical careers of countless musical legends hailing from the city. He eventually ended up in a position at WQUE (Q93) that enabled him to become one of the premiere urban DJs in the country. Once he meshed the need for assistance in the community with his influential position, DET was birthed. The goal of community service was put into action in the very place for his humble beginnings started. The annual turkey giveaway is not only heartfelt, but it is also well-needed. Elderly, handicapped people and others in need come out in numbers seeking a complimentary meal. DET's founders are sincere and have become vessels for just this sort of cause. In addition to the Turkey Giveaway, they provide other community based services around holidays and back to school times.
