NEW YORK - Dec. 16, 2019 - PRLog -- FICS is a fitness recovery and wellness studio tailored to the needs of world class athletes, weekend warriors and overworked / over-stressed New Yorkers. The studio opened in August 2019, and is located in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood – the center of New York City's fitness community. Co-founders Jeb Singer and Don Snellings, who have competed in marathons, triathlons and other athletic events around the world since 2002, state that the studio offers a nearly unparalleled collection of fitness recovery and wellness technology.

"We conceived this business because of a need we had – optimal physical and mental recovery from training in order to prevent injury and improve performance." Snellings says. "Recovery is crucial after competitions and challenging workouts.  Lying in bed for 12 hours the day after a marathon is not realistic or advisable. Getting a massage and putting on an ice-pack doesn't cut it either. Physical therapy is only utilized after injury has already occurred.  We knew that there had to be a better way to recover as there is unbelievably advanced technology out there. Yet, before us, that technology was hard to find and disparate – you had to go to 5 different places. So we put it together ourselves."

On any given day at FICS, a visitor may encounter an impressive mix of world class athletes including Olympians, elite distance runners, obstacle course racers and NHL players. In addition, the studio regularly hosts beloved Peloton instructors, fitness influencers and master personal trainers. Singer is clear that anyone who wants to improve their physical and mental health and well-being can benefit from FICS' services.

"Our services treat those who put the most demands on their bodies by making exercise recovery more efficient," says Singer. "At the same time, many of our users have no background in competitive sports or high intensity training. They are just ordinary New Yorkers seeking novel ways to improve their health and reduce stress. Just about anyone can benefit from the physically and mentally restorative nature of our services."

For instance, several of FICS' services reduce inflammation and pain, including the electric whole-body cryotherapy machine, the low-level laser light therapy pod (each amongst the first in the City) and the NormaTec Compression boots.  Cryotherapy and light therapy also reduce chronic fatigue, increase energy, improve sleep and achieve several other objectives. The City's first dry floatation pod reduces muscle tension and improves overall mental well-being as does the studio's infrared sauna. The IR Sauna also eliminates body toxins, stimulates weight loss and increases metabolism. The local cryotherapy treatment is administered through a machine called the Cryo T-Shock which applies extreme cold to a local area to reduce inflammation, swelling and pain. That machine also does body contouring -- a safe, painless, cost effective, non-surgical and non-invasive fat reduction treatment and liposuction alternative. The services are evidenced-based. For example, there are approximately forty (40) new research papers published every month on light therapy including from prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School.

"The overall studio experience is meant to elevate each individual's physical and mental wellness," says Snellings. "FICS is an oasis in the middle of the craziness of New York. Our studio looks like a modern art gallery.  Our walls are decorated with beautiful pastel colored images of clouds. We believe this is emblematic of how folks should feel when leaving – they should be floating on clouds."
