DETROIT - Jan. 13, 2020 - PRLog -- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King had a dash: January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968. The dash is between the dates of when a person is born and when they die. Dr. King led a life of impact as the leader of the civil rights movement. He made his dash count.

Ermon K. Jones (January 16, 1924 - May 7, 2016), the father of Dr. Geneva J. Williams, also had a distinguished record of community activism. Most notably, he won the New Jersey Supreme Court landmark housing bias case (Jones v. Haridor Realty) that provided homeownership opportunities for blacks throughout New Jersey. He made his dash count.

A defining moment came when, as a teenager, Williams received hate mail and had crosses on her family's front lawn that said, "get out" of their home in New Jersey.   Inspired by her father's tireless role as a courageous civil rights leader, leadership became an emphasis of Dr. Geneva Williams' career and she is on a mission to make her dash count and showing others too.

In honor of father's legacy, she wrote a book, Justice on the Jersey Shore and is sharing those leadership and legacy building principles with women on Monday, January20, in Detroit. The conference, Vision 2020, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hotel St. Regis, 3017 W. Grand Boulevard in New Center. Sponsors of the event include DUO (presenting), Health Alliance Plan (HAP of Michigan), Monique Woods Agency, StillFit360, Connect Detroit and Connexions Consulting.

"Leaders have to take risks, walk in paths that have not been used and be patient for results. Leaders must also show compassion and not be judgmental, which is why we are supporting   Warrior Women Against Poverty at the event. This organization, led by Carol Goss, is leading the way and showing others how they can change lives one woman and one family at a time," said Dr. Williams.

Dr. Williams has always been about community, collaboration, communication and confidence. After a 40-plus-year career as an award-winning, innovative nonprofit leader, she reinvented herself as an author, international speaker, podcaster and title-holding advocate for women to live fit, fine and a vibrant life.

A late-life beauty queen, entrepreneur and online course creator, Dr. Geneva shows women that they can do anything at any age. She recently auditioned and was selected to be in an advertising campaign which has been seen on CNN, online in print publications and direct mail.

"I want to encourage women, especially those over the age of 50, to participate in vision casting with me so they can make the rest of their life the best of their life – and build legacy.  We are all leaders and the best way I can show women how to lead is in their own unique and authentic way. Our voice matters and once we dig into our purpose and clarify our vision, we are unstoppable. We can look good, feel good and do good all at the same time," said Dr. Williams.

In addition to Dr. Williams' presentation, she will have other guests in a "fireside chat." Once the attendees have crafted their visions, they will then hear from Rashida Williams, The Glam Doctor; Dr. Michele Leno, of DML Psychological Services, PLLC; Loretta Bush, of Authority Health, Kim Boudreau Smith of Her Bold Voice, Rev. Dr. Mayowa Reynolds, of Fellowship Chapel and Gail Perry-Mason of Money Matters for Youth and I Am 4Ever39.

"After women hear from these six speakers, they'll be well on their way to a vibrant life making an impact with their mind, body and spirit. We are celebrating lives full of purpose," said Dr. Williams.

Dr. Geneva Williams was recently appointed by the Governor of Michigan to the Women's Commission, won the NAWBO Top 10 Michigan Women Award and is the cover story of the January issue of Speakers Magazine. She is a master at reinventing herself and goes all-out to serve visionaries and dreamers, through her speaking, coaching and leadership development company, Dr. Geneva Speaks, LLC.

"Dreamers are vital to transforming communities, influencing economic wealth, and establishing legacy.  Women leaders are often the key to change; we are the catalysts in today's environment. Our future depends on creating visions that will make an impact in the world," concludes Dr. Williams.

This Vision 2020 Experience offers networking, inspiring speakers, educational fireside chats and resources to clarify, focus and ignite vision for leadership that leaves legacy.
