Follow on Google News | Blockchain Technology Breakthrough: New ApplicationsMove aside CryptoKitties, a brand new collectible digital asset will soon be available: ApogeeINVENT successfully tests theory of publishing digital books on blockchain.
By: ApogeeINVENT Last week, after over a year of development work, the smart contract was tested first on the Ropstein test network. With that successful test, the smart contract was then uploaded to the live Mainnet, where it was successfully tested. Publishing digital books on the blockchain has never been attempted before, and the possibility was only a theory the company held until it was proven during the testing last week. This theory is the basis for the ApogeeINVENT subsidiary, CryptoComics, which is currently in live beta testing. Publishing comic books to the blockchain will allow creators and collectors to buy and sell collectible digital comics. Creators can sell their comics and receive royalties each time an issue is resold. Collectors can resell used digital comics. Each comic book issue will be tracked by the blockchain throughout sales and resales, retaining the value and identifying the issue as #1 of a 10000 run, or #100 of a 200 run. This allows comic books - and later, all ebooks - to hold a digital value, and also make it possible for used digital books to be resold while still paying the original creator a royalty. Beta Version 1.1.6 is now launched on the live Mainnet. The smart contract still has a lot more work to be done before the final production version that will be used on the CryptoComics Marketplace, but to quote smart contract creator and ApogeeINVENT CEO Joe Frazier: "This working example is a milestone and a demonstration that our theory is, in fact, possible. I plan to continue refining this Smart Contract in preparation for open launch and live transactions in the Marketplace." Jared Brague, CEO and co-founder of CrytpoComics comments: "What we are attempting to do is allowing everyone in the comic book industry to sell DIGITAL USED COMIC BOOKS. Digital comic books become collectible, merging the benefits of print with the ease of access and affordability of digital. This has never been attempted, and Joe's recent real life test proves that this is possible. We are so excited about continuing to move forward with this growing community of creators, fans, publishers, and comic book store owners who all love this concept as much as we do."
