Follow on Google News | Spruill to launch new annual outdoor art installation programSubmissions are now being accepted through August 8. Spruill's Selection Committee will announce the winner September 8 and the selected artist will complete their on-site art installation from October 4 – 10, 2020. In addition to a $5,000 grant award for their project, the Amplify artist will also become Dunwoody's Artist in Residence [Inn] for the week through a partnership with the Residence Inn by Marriott located within the Spruill Gallery complex. The chosen artist will receive a "Welcome to Dunwoody" package featuring a variety of free meals, drinks, and other benefits from local partners including Alon's, Breadwinner Café, Café Intermezzo, Cinnaholic, El Azteca, NFA Burger, Novo Cucina, Porter Q, Village Burger, and Vino Venue. A limited-edition print run of the final work will be made available to the public for purchase through the gallery. "We are excited about the possibilities Amplify is going to bring to the gallery grounds, and to Dunwoody as a community, as we continue to engage the public with art" said Gallery Director, Jennifer Price. Many in the community might be wondering, "what's next for the EVERYTHING WILL BE OK mural?" Spruill is currently in discussions with the City of Dunwoody and the business community to find an appropriate, long-term home for the iconic mural, originally created by artist Jason Kofke in 2009. "It will remain a part of Dunwoody, as it has for the past decade," said Alan Mothner, CEO of Spruill Center for the Arts. "While we are looking forward to being able to showcase new art and artists at the intersection of Dunwoody's business and residential communities, we realize what an important part of Dunwoody's history Jason's mural has become and we want to ensure that we protect that legacy."
