Carl B. Phillips releases poignant video for latest single "Heaven Help Us All"

DETROIT - Jan. 4, 2021 - PRLog -- International gospel recording artist Carl B. Phillips, is releasing a video for his latest single, "Heaven Help Us All", Monday January 11, 2021 8:00 am. The video will premiere on the Set Apart and Chosen Facebook Page.

After recording the song "Heaven Help Us All", Carl wanted a location which expresses the sentiments of the song. Carl stated, "one night I could not sleep thinking about the location for the video shoot, I began to search for Detroit murals. In my searching I found the mural by Detroit artist Sydney G. James painted on the outside wall of the Hamilton Tucker Art Gallery. After visiting the mural, I knew it would be a perfect backdrop. I contacted the owner of the Hamilton Tucker Art Gallery and was giving the owners blessing for the video"

The mural features the names of several black lives lost to injustices, including Malice Green, an unarmed African American man who was beaten to death by two Detroit police officers in 1992.

In a recent interview with the Detroit Free Press, the artist of the mural Sydney G. James stated, "I told someone at the beginning of this, I was like, this is going to be the most beautiful, ugly thing that I've ever painted, and that's exactly what it is. The further along we go with it, the more painful it is to do."

The upcoming video release is a bitter sweet experience for Carl. One of the featured vocalists in the video, James Murray, passed 2 months after shooting the video. James and Carl had been friends for over 30 years and video shoot was the last time the two friends worked together.
