Quassy Amusement Park Announces Largest Investment In History

New Water Coaster To Be Largest Single Investment In 113 Years

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - July 14, 2021 - PRLog -- – Quassy Amusement & Waterpark here today unveiled what will be the single largest investment in the park's 113-year history.

Quassy President Eric Anderson announced that the family-owned property would build a new water raft ride in Quassy's Splash Away Bay waterpark for the 2022 season.

"This new attraction will actually be what is recognized in our industry as a water coaster," Anderson said. "It will incorporate some of the latest technology in waterslides with features we've never presented at the park. And when I said water coaster, it will be just that as water jets will actually push the rafts up a number of inclines."

The park official emphasized that the capital investment – though no hard figures were released – will be the largest in the park's history for an attraction.

"This incredible new ride will cost more than our Wooden Warrior roller coaster, which opened a decade ago," he noted. "It will really take the waterpark experience at Quassy to the next level."

Construction of the yet-to-be-named project will start in the fall and is expected to be completed in time for Splash Away Bay's opening next spring.

"We anticipate having a contest in regional schools to come up with a name for the ride," Anderson asserted. "That's how Wooden Warrior was named and we received nearly 100 entries."

Designed by ProSlide Technology Inc. of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the ride will incorporate the company's patented RocketBLAST water jet propulsion system. The high-pressure jets will push two-person rafts up three separate inclines along the fast-paced ride.

In addition, the water coaster will feature four ProSlide FlyingSAUCER elements for high-speed accelerating banked turns. The attraction will be more than 600 feet in length and have a capacity of 340 persons per hour.

The installation will bring to 16 the number of waterslides in Splash Away Bay waterpark, all provided by ProSlide. The new raft ride will be located in an area where the park's Lakeside Pavilion is currently situated. The steel pavilion will be removed in September to make way for the project, which will also incorporate additional cabana rentals. For more information visit http://www.quassy.com.
