Follow on Google News | Zane Carson Carruth Wins 2021 Porch Restoration Award from Saratoga Springs Preservation FoundationBy: TransMedia Group Since 1977, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation has been dedicated to preserving and enhancing the unique architectural, cultural, and landscaped heritage of Saratoga Springs. Annually, the Foundation recognizes individuals and organizations who have invested significant time and money to undertake preservation projects in the past year. The Preservation Recognition Awards celebrate the winners' hard work and commitment "to being good stewards of their property with members of the community and friends of the Foundation." Carruth received the Porch Restoration Award after reconstructing the column bases and installing new piers for the historic house porch, in which it was restored to its original condition with mahogany floors. Moreover, Carruth also painted all of the new materials on the porch and added a rough stone veneer face to the columns, matching the existing stone face as best as possible. "I am absolutely honored to receive such a prestigious award in one of my favorite places on Earth, Saratoga Springs," Carruth said. This house's history not only means a lot to me, but to the entire community of Saratoga Springs, and I am so proud to have restored such a unique porch and continue the legacy of The Wedding Cake House," Carruth added.
