Thetford company hits national crazy golf tournament trail

THETFORD, U.K. - Oct. 4, 2021 - PRLog -- Crazy golf equipment suppliers Putterfingers.com have entered their pro team into a major mini golf tournament. The BMGA British Championship & Singles Matchplay 2021 will take place in the 16th And 17th of October at Strokes Adventure Golf in Margate, Kent. It is organised annually by the BMGA (British Minigolf association), who run a full calendar of tournaments and championships in the UK.
"It's great to be finally out there competing," said Putterfingers.com Managing Director Richard Standen. "Until now we haven't made the time to get a team together and travel to tournaments. Everyone here is busy providing minigolf gear to the nation: designing and making obstacles, selling putters and balls, delivering courses for hire or buy around the country. But this year we have finally made the commitment to get out there, get to know everybody on the minigolf scene, and see what it's like to compete at tournament level."
This is the team's first match play tournament. Their previous efforts have all been stroke play. In match play, a player earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponent, as opposed to stroke play where the total number of strokes is counted over a course of, typically, 18 holes. The Ryder Cup, for example, is played in a match play format, but is a team event. The Margate tournament is singles match play. Success will therefore be down to individual brilliance. This is most likely to come from Jon Clarke, who is currently showing promise and is the best player on the Putterfingers.com team.
The Putterfingers.com team have also participated at the World Crazy Golf Championships held at Hastings in September, as well as sponsoring and competing in the Putterfingers.com Sussex Wasps Open held in Peterborough in August.
They will be up against the best players in the UK, including multiple-times previous winners and even a world champion. While under no illusions about their prowess, having played only two major tournaments before, both in 2021, the team remains upbeat about the future. "These top players are just ordinary people with a passion for mini golf and a lot of determination," said Jon Clarke of the Putterfingers.com team. If we can maintain that kind of attitude for the next few years, there's no reason why we shouldn't do well."
