"Look Ma - No Legs!" Published at The Piker Press

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Oct. 5, 2021 - PRLog -- Author and poet B Shawn Clark found a home for a micro short story entitled "LOOK MA!  NO LEGS!" on The Piker Press, a weekly journal for arts, sciences, fiction and non-fiction, that bills itself as featuring a wide array of literature, from humor to drama. Describing itself as "Literature - but without the nutritive value" Piker Press thinks of itself as "the illegitimate, online child of Analog and National Geographic, but funnier."

"I knew when I read their website that Double-P was the perfect place for this story," said Clark.  "You will know what I mean when you read it."

What, exactly, readers of The PP often are heard asking, is a "filthy piker?" As the proprietors explain on their website:  "It was part of a line from a collaborative story telling effort. The scene was one of bitter combat, and one of the characters had just received an arrow to his backside. Another got in the way of a compatriot's sword swing. It was John, who came up with the classic line: 'That's it. From now on, I work alone, you filthy pikers.' So charmed in some inexplicable manner, we referred to ourselves as Filthy Pikers from that point on. However, if we had a nickel for every time we've mentioned the name and had someone say, 'Oh, one of those sites,' we'd have no doubt probably covered our out of pocket expenses for the Press - and then some."
