Gala Honorees are Longtime Tech Instructors Dr. Jorge Calienes and Mrs. Elizabeth Allison

ROSEMEAD, Calif. - Oct. 20, 2021 - PRLog -- Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) will host its annual Black and Gold Gala, "Back to Broadway," on the school's campus on Saturday, November 6. All proceeds will benefit Bosco Tech's tuition assistance program.

The event will honor longtime Tech instructors Dr. Jorge Calienes and Mrs. Elizabeth Allison for their dedication to students through the years. One of the most successful coaches in Tech history, Dr. Calienes taught and led the basketball team from 1977-87; he is a professor of Kinesiology at East Los Angeles College. Allison, who served as English department chair and taught Advanced Placement English and British Literature while serving in the school's Youth Ministry program, is a published author whose work has been featured in Huffington Post, Yahoo News and Scary Mommy.

"Bosco Tech has been incredibly fortunate to have invested instructors of this caliber and the gala is the perfect opportunity to recognize them," said Memo Gutierrez, Bosco Tech President. "We're looking forward to collectively thanking them for their dedication to helping young people. What more fitting time than at the gala, when we celebrate Bosco Tech's positive impact in the lives of our students and alumni?"

Gala tickets, which are $150 per person or two for $250, can be purchased on the school's website https://www.boscotech.edu/giving/gala or by contacting Viki Battaglia, Director of Alumni Relations and Special Events, at vbattaglia@boscotech.edu. Several levels of gala sponsorship opportunities are available. The event begins with campus tours at 5 p.m.

The only Catholic applied science high school of its kind in the U.S., Bosco Tech uniquely combines a rigorous college-preparatory program with STEM-based studies. The innovative approach allows students to exceed university admissions requirements while completing extensive integrated coursework in one of six technology and engineering fields, including the newest program, Biological, Medical and Environmental Technology. Bosco Tech has a college acceptance rate of 100 percent, with the majority of graduates pursuing STEM-related post-secondary majors. The school is located at 1151 San Gabriel Boulevard, Rosemead, 91770. More information is available at www.boscotech.edu.
