AfrosUnidos Helps Achieve Community Solidarity for Afro-Descendant Communities

MEDELLÍN, Colombia - Oct. 20, 2021 - PRLog -- Strong communities play a vital role in building great nations. These communities that are socially, economically, culturally and politically strong uplift people and countries. However, the recent strike of COVID-19 has put a strain on many such communities, businesses, institutions and individuals. With people going out for work and many businesses shutting down, there is a need for grass-root level initiatives. AfrosUnidos, in the wake of the pandemic, has played a vital role to promote community solidarity and empower the individuals, businesses and societies for a better future. The social organization raised over $5,000 from more than seventy donors in the United States to help local businesses and serve 12 neighborhoods providing groceries to those in need. AfrosUnidos took on the mission to feed 1,391 individuals for an entire week and is currently working on other measures to promote community solidarity.

AfrosUnidos aims to carry out activities of cultural, recreational, social, educational, economic and political relevance to improve the quality of life for Afro-Colombian communities in the world. From promoting ethno-education to economic empowerment and making efforts in community service, AfrosUnidos focuses on grassroot initiatives to generate a wider impact. The organization also supports black artists by advocating their incredible work and highlighting black experiences on a global level. Be it performing arts activities such as drama, music, dance, or visual arts such as painting and drawing, AfrosUnidos will be seen advocating for the city's equitable support of black artists and cultural workers. The social organization also supports other forms of arts by black artists and encourages creating a culturally informed artistic community that works in solidarity and, for an inclusive society.

One of the purposes of AfrosUnidos is to provide youth with skills and help emerging entrepreneurs scale their businesses through access to capital and business networks. AfrosUnidos works toward advancing workforce development to expand human capital for the advancement of strong communities and a thriving economy. In the recent past, AfrosUnidos has also played a role in initiating various online programs and campaigns through social networks to mobilize and manage collaborations for activities and development forums, talks and conferences. To sum it up, the organization has been creating a deep-rooted impact in communities by mobilizing individuals, empowering businesses and advocating the power of Afro descendant communities.
