SAN JOSE, Calif. - Nov. 23, 2021 - PRLog -- Steinberg Hart, an international architecture and design firm with an office in San Jose, submitted an initial entitlement application to the City of San Jose for the property located at 250 Stockton Avenue in San Jose. Adjacent to Google's proposed Downtown West and just north of Diridon Station, the 1.3 million square foot project seeks to provide a dynamic new office environment. By delivering a mix of class A office space and distributed outdoor terraces with planted roofscapes and sky gardens, Steinberg Hart will create a mix of indoor/outdoor flexible working environments that embrace the mild climate and creative culture of Silicon Valley. This includes 60,000 square feet of open-air terraces and landscaped roof decks.

"A model for future office space, the design for 250 Stockton is guided by prioritizing occupant experience and urban connections. The connection to natural light and views drives a split tower design framing a monumental internal lightwell culminating in terraced podium level landscapes," said Edmund Rivera, Senior Associate and Design Director at Steinberg Hart. "These landscapes cascade down, and through, the hybrid flex/lobby at the ground floor, opening to Stockton Avenue and the public edge. This building is the perfect example of how 'working from anywhere' can be exemplified within a building by providing a variety of spaces where people can work. Office space is changing. It's no longer just four walls and a roof."

Rising to 213 feet over 16 floors, the outward facing facades of the tower are defined by an expressed concrete structure organizing fields of passive shading fins and tapering open-air terraces that combine to help mitigate glare and solar heat gain. This design is juxtaposed by the hyper smooth surfaces and suppressed structure of the interior facing facades to maximize daylight penetration. Plus, four-levels of below grade parking allow for all public facing above grade levels to be defined by active use.

"The submittal today has been years in the making and we couldn't be more pleased with our team's creation," said Don Imwalle, President of Imwalle Properties—owners of the property at 250 Stockton Avenue. "The density that Diridon will support demands we maximize the built environment in immediate proximity, and we are excited to be a part of that evolution."
