Follow on Google News | Valentine's Weekend Open House At New England Accordion Museum In North Canaan, CTBy: New England Accordion Connection & Museum Company The Museum is located inside the historic Canaan Union Railroad Station at 75 Main Street in downtown North Canaan, Conn. Collector Angelo Paul Ramunni, also creator of the historic 'living' Museum, showcases 400+ astounding accordions. The accordions are on display in two breathtaking rooms within the recently-restored railroad station. In July 2021 Ramunni moved the exceptionally- "This museum offers visitors a very happy, hands-on experience," When visitors arrive, Ramunni joyfully recounts folk stories about what happened in the station over the last 147 years where thousands of people passed through every week during the 1800s and early 1900s. The special Valentine's Weekend Open House will offer a Beginner's Package at a 15% discount that will include a full-size starter accordion, instruction book, and one lesson. Special activities will include Love Songs played on a 1948 Wurlitzer Jukebox, and mini-concerts. "Visitors can examine closely," commented Ramunni, "the 400+ gorgeous accordions and enjoy refreshments." "The first 'official' accordion was patented in Vienna, Austria in 1892," revealed Ramunni. "In America, the accordion was very popular as the West was settled and was an integral part of many emigrating families. Being portable and musically rich, it was played in happy and harrowing times including the Civil War, World War I, and II." The New England Accordion Connection & Museum Company is located within the Canaan Union Railroad station next to the Connecticut Railroad Historical Association Museum and the Great Falls Brewing Company restaurant. Face masks will be requested of visitors to the free February 10 through 13 Valentine's Weekend Open House between 10 am and 3 pm each day.
