IBT of Miami to build $15.25 million hospital in rural Costa Rica

MIAMI - Feb. 16, 2022 - PRLog -- IBT of Miami announced it was selected to build a new $15.25 million health center in Costa Rica where residents in a rural area northeast of the capital of San José will have immediate access to primary health care services.

"IBT has years of experience as a design-build healthcare builder, and we are proud that Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) selected IBT to plan, build and maintain the new health center to serve the population of Cariari," said Daniel Toledano, managing director of IBT of Miami.

"At present the people of Cariari must travel three hours to the nearest hospital for outpatient care. The new health center to be built by IBT will provide primary care and specialty services to the local population, which also includes tourists," he said.

The CCSS, which is in charge of most of the country's public health sector, selected IBT in a bid process to provide preliminary drafting, design, construction, equipment, and commissioning the start up and maintenance of the Cariari Health Area. The area is located in the Pococí canton in the Limón province of Costa Rica about 68 miles northeast of San José, the nation's capital. The health center will serve a population of around 35,000, mostly farmers and agriculture workers. Ecological tourism also is promoted in the area, known as the Caribbean region of Costa Rica.
