LOS ANGELES - March 16, 2022 - PRLog -- The Nonfiction Book Awards! has given a Gold Award to the book, Rock to Recovery: Music as a Catalyst for Human Transformation. The book chronicles 18 stories of transformation and recovery from addiction, trauma, and mental health issues by individuals who have used playing music and singing to improve their lives. In a time when people are suffering from war-related stress, a turbulent economy, and two-years of pandemic-related restrictions, the book's message is salient and important.

"I am thrilled that the book has received this recognition," says author Constance Scharff, PhD. "There are a host of accessible, affordable therapies to improve our mental health. Playing music and singing is something that anyone can do, with or without training, and feel immediate positive results."

Scharff has spent nearly two decades researching best practices in mental health treatment. "Having suffered from severe childhood trauma and alcoholism myself, I know firsthand how vital complementary and nontraditional mental healthcare practices are to healing."

The Nonfiction Book Awards! (https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/nonfiction-book-...) is an arm of the Nonfiction Authors Association (https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/). "My life's work is to help people find ways to improve their mental health. This includes access to nontraditional and non-stigmatizing therapies and activities," says Scharff. "Music is a universal healer. Whether individuals are suffering from military sexual assault, sex-trafficking, combat-related trauma, domestic violence, child abuse, or pandemic-related stress, music can help them heal," says Scharff. "It is a tremendous honor to have the book Rock to Recovery: Music as a Catalyst for Human Transformation recognized for its insights to help people enhance their mental health and live more fulfilling lives."
