HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. - June 7, 2022 - PRLog -- The 16th Annual National Indie Excellence® Awards (NIEA) recognize the Winners and Finalists from this year's robust competition. Rock to Recovery: Music as a Catalyst for Human Transformation won the music category and was a finalist in the addiction and recovery category.

A leader and veteran of publishing award contests, The National Indie Excellence® Awards are open to recent English language books in print from self and independent publishers. Rock to Recovery: Music as a Catalyst for Human Transformation is published by Around the Way Publishing.

Winners and Finalists are determined on the basis of superior written content coupled with excellent presentation in each and every facet of the final published product from cover to cover.

"It is an honor to receive this recognition from the NIEA. It is testament not only to the power of music to help people heal from addiction and trauma, but also shows how books can share an important message of inspiration and hope. Music is indeed medicine, and so are books," said Constance Scharff, PhD, the book's coauthor.

"Now in our 16th year The National Indie Excellence® Awards (NIEA) has evaluated thousands of books across a wide range of diverse genres produced by self-published authors and independent imprints. From this position, we find that our current selection of NIEA award recipients represent the best and brightest talents to be found in contemporary indie publishing and self-published authors today," said Doug Fogelson, President National Indie Excellence® Awards.

"I hope this recognition allows the book Rock to Recovery to reach more people. The death rate from fentanyl alone is horrifying and a national crisis," says Scharff. "I wrote this book with Rock to Recovery founder Wes Geer, so that people would know that there is hope for recovery. Whether you are suffering from addiction or trauma, or just regular life stresses, music can help you live a better life."
