Follow on Google News | That Speaks Volumes About Steve Ly's CharacterI was first introduced ta Steve Ly in 2015 at the celebration of his appointment to the City Council of Elk Grove, California. I was moved by the genuine, humble, and vibrant aura I received from my first encounter.
By: Marianna B As someone who too was evolving more into politic arena and becoming more involved in my community, I began to see the great changes and the evolving growth of our Elk Grove City. As a delegate in the Sacramento Labor Council, I was on the committee that interviewed candidates for endorsements. I distinctly remember my first interview with Steve Ly in 2018 at the Labor Council. This time he was running for the Re Election for the Mayor of Elk Grove. His responses were delivered with passion and shared his vision on a plan that was innovative and promising for the City of Elk Grove. I had already begun to see the changes in our city with the rapid growth of the economy, and opportunities for all cultures, including community events that included and attracted all ethnic backgrounds. What really caught my attention and support was his transparency when I asked about how he allowed the new Costco to come into our city, and it is a non-union store. He quickly responded and explained without hesitation. He explained that there was a contract already in action and that it was sealed and decided before Steve was involved. Once he found out about the agreement and the permits had already been approved; Steve addressed the personnel at Costco about the store's status being non-union. He pushed for the company to allow employees to become unionized if they wished to do so. Costco had agreed to the request. Steve also mentioned that he had been in communications with Teamster Local 150 to start the process to unionize the store. Steve supports labor and will fight for the people and that to me is very important. I will stand and fight with Steve for the greater good of our city. He has a proven track record, and he is the best and only candidate for the Board of Supervisors for District 5 in Sacramento County. Experience Matters.
