ATLANTA - May 3, 2022 - PRLog -- In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month being observed in May, the Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation (LHTYF) is presenting a free virtual mental health workshop to help educators manage workplace stress and anxiety as well as recognize mental health issues in children.

In 1949, the Mental Health America organization started Mental Health Awareness Month and it has been observed in May in the United States since then. Because society often stigmatizes mental health issues, it's important to provide education to empower adults and children towards better health in schools. LHTYF recognizes the significance of educators learning to manage mental health properly in the workplace. Although the stigma is lessening around mental health, many people are hesitant to admit to having challenges in the workplace due to stress, mental, or emotional anxiety. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) nearly 1 in 5 adults of every age, race, and gender are facing mental health disorders - that's 44.7 million working Americans.

In an effort to address workplace stress and anxiety in schools, LHTYF is presenting a  workshop entitled: "Your Mental Health Matters" being offered to teachers and administrative professionals in Fulton and Dekalb county schools in metro Atlanta.  With many adults facing mental health issues, the reality is that more must be done to remove the stigma surrounding mental health while normalizing treatment for stress, anxiety, and emotional triggers that lead to negative behaviors.

"The Covid-19 pandemic brought mental health issues to the forefront of discussions on mind, body, and spiritual wellness on a holistic level.  We believe that offering an event to help educators focus on mental health is judicious," said Lori A. Manns, president of Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation, Inc.

LHTYF's "Your Mental Health Matters" workshop takes place Wednesday, May 4th at 3:00 p.m. (EST) and is sponsored by CareSource and facilitated by Mental Health Resources of Atlanta. Educators who wish to participate must register via the website, www.livehealthyandthriveyouth.org
