In Sierra Leone, less than one month ago, on April 17th, 2022, Easter Sunday, a loving foster mother lost her young son. Dora legally became a foster mother to Baby J through the All For One Foundation's Childhood Prosperity Center in Freetown, Sierra Leone. In the year they spent together, Dora met his every need and gave him a wonderful sense of security and unconditional love. She treated him as her own, and effortlessly and naturally made him feel at home. Baby J, like so many children in Sub-Saharan Africa had a very difficult beginning in life suffering from severe malnutrition and complicated respiratory issues. Katie Milazzo, Director of the CPC, has said that Baby J's passing has left the All for One Community in mourning, but that staff and counselors are working with Dora as she struggles with the unbearable grief of losing a child. Per UNICEF, the global under-five mortality rate declined by 61 per cent, from 93 deaths per 1,000 live births in 1990 to 37 in 2020. While this is considerable progress, improving child survival must remain a matter of urgent global concern. This Mother's Day, as we celebrate all Mother's everywhere, All For One Foundation extends our deepest sympathy to Dora and our gratitude to all mother's who find it in their hearts to love children with no distinctions between "biological love", "adoptive love" or "foster love". http://www.allforone.org End
