Screenwriter DJ Perry- Entertaining And Preserving History

LANSING, Mich. - Aug. 11, 2022 - PRLog -- DJ Perry is known as the actor who brought us characters like Niles Cass (Lost Heart), Paul Landings (Man's Best Friend), Ben Lily (Wild Faith) and Jesus (The Quest Trilogy), just to name a few. But an even more interesting note is that he was the screenplay writer for all the titles above and many more. His screenplay worlds are full of interesting characters and unique situations that actors truly love.

To date, he's written numerous scripts and had a dozen of them produced into award winning films.  Most recently, the film BEST YEARS GONE, adapted from Karl Manke's book 'Hope from Heaven,' will receive another award this weekend for Comedy at the 27^th Indie Gathering International Film Festival in Cleveland Ohio. The Shane Hagedorn directed film has also been nominated for 'Best Cinematography' (Travis Hayward) and 'Best Actor' (DJ Perry).  Aside from the last few fest/event showings, the film can be watched on various platforms like iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Prime distributed by Deskpop Entertainment.

Following close on the heels of BEST YEARS GONE, will be the highly anticipated WW2 Christmas drama based on actual events, SILENT NIGHT IN ALGONA. This film was written to highlight and preserve the history of the PW camps that were spread across the Midwest. DJ Perry's script examines the events of 1944 from the perspective of the German PW's, the guards, and the townsfolk. The result is a powerful film will release theatrically in December 2022 and continue a theatrical run throughout the winter before a 2023 home video roll out.

Following on the heels of the WW2 period piece, DJ Perry was engaged to adapt another Karl Manke book, HARSENS ISLAND REVENGE for the screen.  The completed script is set post WW1 and highlights a prohibition era conflict between WW1 veterans and the infamous mobsters of the 'Purple Gang' of Detroit. The film is in official pre-production to shoot second half of 2023.

DJ Perry is currently in active negotiations to write another original script that's set in the 1800's. This story highlights another actual event in history, assuring that the story will not become lost to the passing of time. This project following SILENT NIGHT IN ALGONA, would once again film in the state of Iowa in 2024.
