ATLANTA - Aug. 15, 2022 - PRLog -- After 2 years of exclusively hosting virtual programming due to the pandemic, Science Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc., also known as SEM Link, is starting its 2022-23 program year with a new program model.  SEM link's new program model is a hybrid program model with digital learning opportunities and limited in person programming in Metro Atlanta.  Our Math and Science Career Academy's digital learning opportunities include our Virtual Teen Science Café, that will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of every month and STEM content on our social media platforms. The Experimental Design Program and Math and Science Career Academy's in-person programming is community-based program model hosting program activities at community spaces. The neighborhoods selected for this inaugural year of community-based programming are communities of color that have a lack of out of school time STEM programs for youth.  The third cohort for the Experimental Design Program's STEM Journal Club will start in October with virtual journal club sessions with a few in-person program activities.  "Our new hybrid program model is a superb move for our organization. We continue to expand the reach of our programs, by serving more youth and engaging STEM professionals in STEM outreach, in Atlanta and other parts of the country" stated Ms. Carlyn Pounders, SEM Link Program Coordinator.

In the 2022-23 fiscal year, the organization is deepening relationships with existing partners and establishing relationships with new partners. As a part of SEM Link's community-based STEM programming, the organization is partnering with the College Park branch of the Fulton County Public Library System and The Ke'nekt to serve youth in College Park, the Westview/West End Neighborhoods in City of Atlanta, and the surrounding areas. Google Atlanta is continuing its partnership with SEM Link to engage their employees in both in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities to introduce youth to computer science/technology. A new partnership with Association of Public Health Laboratories, will engage youth in various program activities introducing them to epidemiology and public health, which the pandemic has highlighted the importance of these fields. SEM Link's new partner, the Association of Black Researchers will support the STEM Journal Club, whose goal is to train future STEM Researchers. "SEM Link's achieves our mission through our great relationships. It is imperative for us to have partners that are just as passionate as we are about inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals through engagement and exposure" stated Ms. Tokiwa T. Smith, SEM Link Founder and Executive Director.
