New "Flying the Hump" Second Edition Includes Additional Stories and Photos

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Aug. 18, 2022 - PRLog -- Peter H. Dominick survived one of the more dangerous, if largely unsung aspects of World War II, as a decorated pilot. He flew supplies over the Himalayas between India and China long before he represented Colorado as a congressman and senator, and later the United States' ambassador to Switzerland.

His war experiences, detailed in diary entries his family discovered after his passing, form the basis of the book "Flying the Hump: The War Diary of Peter H. Dominick," (M&B Global Solutions Inc.), recently released as a second edition with additional photos and commentary from his son, Alexander S. Dominick.

Dominick's diary features descriptions of the life-and-death stresses involved with flying supplies over the treacherous Himalayas, along with a thrilling short story based on his experiences. His son contributes an updated introduction and afterword in the new version that sheds additional light on the elder Dominick's life journey and the challenges of growing up with a father dedicated to public service.

"Flying the Hump" over the Himalayas during World War II meant risking your life in often-dilapidated planes while transporting crucial supplies to Allied forces fighting the Japanese in the China Burma India (CBI) Theater. Dominick was one of the lucky few to survive "The Aluminum Trail," so called because of the number of aircraft that crashed along the perilous route.
