ROSEMEAD, Calif. - Sept. 12, 2022 - PRLog -- Fourteen Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) students have earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. The National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented young people academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications while connecting them with universities across the country, helping them stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs identify students awarded National African American, Hispanic, Indigenous and/or Rural/Small Town Recognition through College Board's Student Search Service.

Each of the Bosco Tech students was recognized in the National Hispanic Recognition Award category. They are: Santiago Alvarez, Adam Beam, Anthony Battaglia, David Ceballos, Evan Delgado, Angel Duran, Diego Enriquez, Christian Figueroa, Joe Mora, Noah Pinales, Andrew Placencia, Nathaniel Ruiz, Matthew Wong, and Samuel Zendejas.

"We're thrilled that our students have earned College Board recognition," said Bosco Tech Principal Jeff Krynen. "We are incredibly proud of them for their achievements in the classroom and on College Board assessments. These programs help students from underrepresented backgrounds stand out to colleges during the admissions process."

Eligible students have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams, and are African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, and/or attend school in a rural area or small town. Students receive the awards in time to include them on their college and scholarship applications.

"We want to honor the hard work of these students through the College Board National Recognition Programs. This program creates a way for colleges and scholarship programs to connect directly with underrepresented students who they are hoping to reach," said Tarlin Ray, College Board senior vice president of BigFuture. "We hope the award winners and their families celebrate this prestigious honor and it helps them plan for their big future."

The only Catholic applied science high school of its kind in the U.S., Bosco Tech uniquely combines a rigorous college-preparatory program with STEM-based studies. The innovative approach allows students to exceed university admissions requirements while completing extensive integrated coursework in one of six technology and engineering fields, including the newest program, Biological, Medical and Environmental Technology. Bosco Tech has a college acceptance rate of 100 percent, with the majority of graduates pursuing STEM-related post-secondary majors. The school is located at 1151 San Gabriel Boulevard, Rosemead, 91770. More information is available at www.boscotech.edu.
