MahoganyBooks hosts Black Books Matter Mixer during the Annual Congressional Black Caucus Conference

WASHINGTON - Sept. 27, 2022 - PRLog -- MahoganyBooks will host a Black Books Matter Mixer during the 51^st Annual Legislative Congressional Black Caucus Conference. The event will feature nationally known authors, including Fox5 news anchor Wisdom Martin, debut author and Love and Marriage: DC television personality Ashley Silva, an influential author and entrepreneur Angel Rich, and Kwame Johnson, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Metro Atlanta. Each author will be on-hand to sign their books. The event will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the MahoganyBooks, Anacostia store located at 1231 Good Hope Road S.E. inside the Anacostia Art Center. The mixer is in partnership with 13^th & Joan, a multimedia publishing agency specializing in publishing, national and international distribution, and marketing services for authors.

"The Annual Legislative Conference advances the global Black community by developing leaders, informing policy, and educating the public. The Black Books Matter Mixer extends this mission by recognizing and supporting Black authors, empowerment, and cultural awareness," stated Derrick and Ramunda Young, co-founders and co-owners of MahoganyBooks.

MahoganyBooks recently recognized Banned Books Week throughout September, with special attention to banned books written by Black authors. Five of the top ten authors banned in 2021 were authors of color.
