By: Accelerate Financial Technologies The Accelerate Carbon-Negative Bitcoin ETF (TSX: ATBC), launched in August 2021, included a novel and innovative decarbonization initiative to eliminate the carbon footprint of its investments while providing additional sustainability benefits to its unitholders. Accelerate has worked with its partner, veritree, to execute ABTC's impact investing initiative through a global tree-planting campaign. Specifically, it is expected that more than 12,000 trees have been or will be planted, resulting in an estimated 2,755 tons of CO2 sequestered and 1.3 hectares reforested in Madagascar, while providing 90 jobs in East Africa. The estimated 2,755 tons of CO2 sequestered by ABTC's decarbonization initiative is equivalent to removing 599 cars from the road for one year. "We have made significant progress with ABTC's one-of-a-kind global tree-planting initiative. I commend ABTC unitholders for valuing sustainability and diversification" For each $1,000 investment in ABTC, approximately one net tonne of carbon dioxide is expected to be sequestered per year. ABTC's decarbonization initiative is funded out of the ETF's management fee. "The Accelerate Carbon-Negative Bitcoin ETF allows investors to diversify their portfolios while helping to fight climate change."
