Trailblazing Olympian Simidele Adeagbo Launches the SimiSleighs Foundation to empower women & girls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Oct. 23, 2022 - PRLog -- Today, barrier-breaking Olympian, bobsled champion and children's book author Simidele Adeagbo announces the launch of the SimiSleighs Foundation, an athlete-founded non-profit organization with a mission to build a better world for women and girls through sport. Prioritizing creating a world of equal opportunity where all women and girls can benefit from the power of sport, the SimiSleighs Foundation is committed to advancing gender equality within the Olympic and Paralympic movement and building future generations of female leaders.

Rooted in two vital areas to help women and girls thrive through sport—supporting elite athletes and unlocking the leadership potential of everyday girls—the SimiSleighs Foundation came to life through Adeagbo's passion to inspire and empower girls and ensure they have equal opportunity to succeed.

"I'm driven to use my platform to build a better world for women and girls by educating them on the benefits of sports and fighting to ensure that all female athletes receive equal opportunities as well as resources to compete" said Simidele Adeagbo. "This organization helps break down the barriers on the road to success. My hope is that the SimiSleighs Foundation and the game-changing grants and unique world-class programming it provides, will positively impact women and girls to boldly pursue their dreams."

The SimiSleighs Foundation champions women and girls through two signature programs; the Athlete Grant program and the Leadership program. The Athlete Grant program is designed to accelerate gender equality in sport through providing funding and other critical resources to underrepresented female Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls. The Leadership program empowers girls to transform their communities, countries and world by delivering a research-backed curriculum to build their leadership skills through sport.

Simidele Adeagbo's experiences as a female athlete and deep desire to empower the next generation of women and girls at the elite level and beyond are at the heart of the SimiSleighs Foundation. As the foundation continues to impact lives around the world, Adeagbo remains committed to enacting change and inspiring big dreams.

The SimiSleighs Foundation will welcome the inaugural class of Athlete Grant program recipients in early 2023 as it continues to expand the Leadership Program throughout 2023. The foundation is on a path to award $1M USD in grant funding to elite female athletes and impact 1M girls through the Leadership Program in the next decade. Early major partners for the foundation include the Marks Family Foundation and Visa.
