SAN FRANCISCO - Dec. 12, 2022 - PRLog -- FUSE LITERARY, the agency bringing technology and innovation to the more traditional aspects of book publishing, today announced the promotion of Associate Agents Karly Dizon and Ernie Chiara to Agents at the firm.

"Karly and Ernie have been stand-out successes at the agency, and it was high time they were promoted to Agent status," said Laurie McLean, who formed Fuse Literary nearly 10 years ago along with partner Gordon Warnock.

The founders were impressed by Karly's and Ernie's knowledge of publishing and their professionalism, as well as their dedication to and success in selling books from underrepresented authors.

"I'm thrilled for Karly and Ernie," said Warnock. "There's nothing I love more than seeing new voices find success in this business."

Dizon first joined the agency in 2016 and was quickly promoted to Literary Assistant then Associate Agent. Dizon has built a career with a strong background as a freelance editor as well as extensive experience with graphic design and marketing. She is looking to develop long-term career authors and nurture their entire writing journey as a strong editorial agent with marketing, social media, and design support. Dizon is also the KidLit track coordinator for the San Francisco Writers Conference.

"I am very lucky to have found a home with such an amazing and inspiring group of kind-hearted geniuses," Dizon said. "Thank you again for this opportunity and for believing in us."

Dizon represents all types of children's books and her clients have won or been nominated for such awards as Kirkus Best Books of the Year, NCTE Notable Books List, SLJ Best Book of the Year, and Kirkus Prize Finalist.

"I couldn't be more appreciative of all my colleagues at Fuse for their support, encouragement, and friendship," Chiara said. "And to my clients for being the best group of writers an agent could possibly hope to work with. I can't wait to see what the future holds, but I know it's not ready for us."

Having first joined Fuse Literary as a writer and client himself, he knows what it's like to be in the query trenches. His goal is to be the type of agent every writer hopes to find. Outspoken about issues of equality, both in society as a whole and as they relate to the publishing industry, Chiara values accuracy in representation and the raising of marginalized voices.

Chiara specializes in Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Horror in the Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade categories, as well as select Literary/Upmarket fiction, YA Contemporary, and Mystery.
