Remote jobs are more prevalent in the US than you think

Despite media headlines, remote jobs actually continue to be massively prevalent in the United States.

AUSTIN, Texas - Dec. 19, 2022 - PRLog -- A glance at headline news might discourage jobseekers on the hunt for their dream remote job, with reports of remote work "drying up" or "dying out" and a sense that most companies will now require workers to once again don a stuffy suit and bear an unpleasant commute to work in a physical office. However, not all is as it seems, and remote jobs actually continue to be massively prevalent in the United States.

"Don't be misled by some reports, remote jobs are here to stay and companies are buckling under the pressure to provide them," says Joseph Boll, CEO of Remote Worker, an online jobs board and resource website for remote workers, remote work jobseekers, and hiring managers, employers and HR personnel seeking to recruit and hire the top talent for remote positions.

Boll admitted that postings have dipped slightly from their mid-pandemic peak, when workers were quitting en masse to protect themselves from the lethal virus rather than chance contracting the disease from working in-person. However, he said remote job postings are still skyrocketing compared to where they were before the pandemic struck.

"The labor market is tight, and competition for the best and widest pool of candidates is particularly fierce," Boll added. "Companies that were once resistant to remote work are now finding they have to give some leeway if they want to fill positions that would otherwise be difficult to hire for. Even jobs that can't be done remotely have to compensate to keep up with the high level of demand by offering other benefits since they can't actually offer remote work."

The CEO highlighted several recent studies conducted by giants like LinkedIn and Indeed Hiring Labs, which showcased how remote jobs are attracting the most candidates by a long shot. One study even found that even as much as 20 percent of financial jobs, which would seem to have high instances of requiring workers to physically come into the office, are being offered with some form of remote work.

"Remote jobs are definitely still in the market and the fact that they've continued to be so prevalent even though we are entering a pre-pandemic period where such restrictions are no longer considered completely necessary just goes to show that remote work is, in fact, here to stay," Boll said.
