Follow on Google News | Bryn Athyn Fire Company to Offer FREE CPR ClassSudden cardiac arrest is the abrupt loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness. The condition usually results from a problem with your heart's electrical system, which disrupts your heart's pumping action and stops blood flow to your body. Sudden cardiac arrest is estimated to occur at least 350,000 times per year in the United States. Currently, survival rates average between 3% and 5%. For each minute that passes where no CPR is given, the survival rate drops by 7% to 10%. Without high-quality CPR before the arrival of an ambulance, survival is nearly impossible. CPR is the first step needed to save a life. The Bryn Athyn Fire Company is offering a free hands-only CPR course to the public on February 8, 2023 at 7:00pm from its location at 2815 Buck Road, Bryn Athyn, PA.
