Free Online Workshop to Learn to Write for Film and Television

NSU Alvin Sherman Library Welcomes Produced Screenwriter Jaimie Engle

DAVIE, Fla. - Jan. 12, 2023 - PRLog -- Writing for film and television is a dream for many novelists. Award-winning and produced screenwriter Jaimie Engle has partnered with the NSU Alvin Sherman Library to lead a free online workshop titled, "Write for Film and Television". Engle will share her personal journey, from writing award-winning books to becoming a screenwriter, selling her first script Just Jake to Hollywood, and the process of production, distribution, and rights retention, including behind-the-scenes details from Just Jake. This workshop, free and open to the public, will be held via Zoom from 2pm-3pm. "It's been my dream to write a movie since I was seven years old," shared Engle, whose first feature was sold to Executive Producer Brian Bird of True Brand Entertainment in 2022. "I know how fortunate I am to see my first script go into production and distributed on network television. I love having the chance to share that hope and inspire a broad audience who otherwise couldn't make it in person."

Just Jake is the story of a country music singer suffering from writer's block. He heads home, runs into his high school sweetheart, who teaches music to underprivileged kids, and eventually they fall back in love. Set to premier late spring on UpTV Faith & Family Network and Super Channel Heart and Home. Directed by Brandon Clark, the film stars Brittany Bristow and Rob Mayes.

After authoring and publishing fifteen books, Engle retained the book rights, which she sold to Vinspire Publishing. Her novelization is based on the original screenplay she sold to True Brand Entertainment, scheduled to release on 8/29/23. Just Jake the novel is available for preorder via Engle's website as well as available to add to reader's Goodreads "TBR" shelves.

"I'm very excited to discuss the process of selling a script and the rewriting by the production to get it film ready," shared Engle. "Writing the novel allowed me to retain my original story, regardless of the necessary changes it needs to switch mediums. It's cool to write a book based off my movie script!"

This online event is free to attend and will be held exclusively online through the NSU Alvin Sherman Library.
