PRLog -- The winners of the 2023 Chicago Horror Film Awards were announced today by festival director and international award-winning filmmaker CJ Vecchio. The awards recognize excellence in the horror film genre and celebrate the work of filmmakers from around the world.
The winners of the 2023 Chicago Horror Film Awards are:
- Best Horror Short - UNDER 1 - 5 MINS: CAREGIVER (winner)
- Best Horror Short - UNDER 5-10 MINS: BORN TO DIE (winner)
- Best Horror Short - UNDER 10-20 MINS: TERMS OF SERVICE (winner)
- Best Horror Short CHICAGO - UNDER 10MINS: MIDNIGHT SNACK (winner)
- Best Horror Short CHICAGO - UNDER 30 MINS: COTTONMOUTH (winner)
- Best Horror Feature - Over 30 mins: THE UNSEEN (winner)
- Best Horror International: SMILEY FACE (winner)
- Best Horror Comedy: NIGHTMARE AT CAMP BLOODBATH
- Best Horror Animation: MY CAT LUCY (winner)
- Best Horror Director - SHORT: Derek J Braasch - Mutilation Massacre (winner)
- Best Horror Director - FEATURE: Jeffrey David Obrow - Pursued (winner)
- Best 1st Time director: Alexander Perez - Cottonmouth
- Best Special Effects: BRANCHING OUT WITH THE INVISIBLE MAN
- Best Kill: THERE IS SOMEONE IN OUR HOUSE
- Best Evil Child: They Grow Up Fast
- Best Evil Parent: BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY
- Best Gore/Bloody: Mutilation Massacre
- Best Scary/Creepy: TRICK NOT TREAT
- Best Jump Scare: THE PLAINVIEW
- Best NSFW Award: Ladykiller TV
- Audience Choice Award: MORT
"We were blown away by the quality and creativity of this year's submissions,"
said CJ Vecchio, festival director. "The winners truly represent the best of the best in the horror film genre."
The 2023 Chicago Horror Film Awards were judged by a panel of industry experts, including film critics, filmmakers, and horror enthusiasts. The festival received hundreds of submissions from around the world.
